Long product rolling mills are usually consisted of three sets of rolling mill stands, roughing, intermediate and finishing. Large and strong rolls are used on these mill stands to ensure production. Therefore, the requirements for the bearings on the rolls are much higher.

The roll neck bearings (or rolling mill bearings)have to carry high continuous load with less friction and work in high speed. And their design and dimension are limited by the roll diameter. The bearings should provide high performance to reduce the mill downtime. Bearings in poor quality will easily seize the rolls and even break the rolls, bringing huge loss for the steel mills. Top brand bearings, such as SKF, TIMKEN, and ESG bearings are recommended to be used on the mill stands. Bearings from these brands usually have enhanced contact surface, material strength properties, internal geometry, as well as cage characteristics for the tough operating conditions.
